INTERNSHIP POST VACANCY ANNOUCEMENT: Office of the Legal Counsel
The African Union established
as a unique Pan African continental body is charged with spearheading Africa’s
rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity,
cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well
as developing a New Partnership worldwide.
Its Headquarters is located at Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.
AU recognizes that the Human Resource
Capacity, particularly of young professionals needs to be harnessed and
nurtured for the overall benefit of the people of the continent. AU has a lead
role in this process by investing in the development of the youth. AU has launched an Internship Programme that
will help in expanding employment guarantee schemes and providing incentives
for firms to hire young people.
Towards that end, the African Union Commission invites applicants who are
citizens of Member States for the position within the of Legal Intern in
the Office of the Legal Counsel.

Duties and responsibilities
The internship will provide the Legal Intern with the opportunity to
develop legal skills while assisting the Office of the Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Draft memos, conduct
legal research and report writing,
Assist in organizing
and convening meetings and conferences as well as preparation of materials for the

and opinions on various topical issues affecting the Union

Qualifications and Experience Required
applicant must have a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B ), legal studies or any
degree relating to law from a recognized university.
Requirement: Proficiency in one (1)
of the African Union working languages (English, French, Arabic or Portuguese).
Knowledge of any of the other three (3) languages will be an added advantage
